International Day of Prayer for the Maltese Islands

August 8th in Malta

The Joint Prayer Meeting and Worship Rally were held at the Waterfront Hotel in Gzira. The evening began with an informal time of fellowship and prayer. As people arrived and the worship leaders prepared for the service, we gathered in small groups and prayed for the needs of the Maltese young people. Later we came together for some corporate praise, worship, and prayer, calling on God to work mightily in the lives of those young people who are walking with Him and asking Him to draw more and more Maltese young people to himself.  During this time, a local believer who works with youth around the island shared passionately about some of the challenges facing young people today and how we as God’s people can love, encourage, and minister to them. Then following a break, we spent an hour praising the Lord together with the help of the worship band from the Word of Life Church in Qormi.  It was a wonderful blessing to have more local believers leading out in these events this year, and we were very thankful that there were approximately 80 believers in attendance throughout the night representing at least six different Maltese Fellowships!

We are continuing the monthly joint prayer meetings for Malta and are considering holding joint praise and worship meetings every three months to continue to encourage a spirit of unity among the believers. Pray for God’s leadership in these efforts.

Thank you for your continued prayers.  Weekly & monthly prayer updates are available upon request – just reply and let us know!

Many blessings,

August 8th in Prayers

Thank you to all who participated in the “Sixth Annual International Day of Pray for the Maltese Islands.” It was such a joy to know that so many individuals and churches were taking part in this special prayer emphasis.  In the days and hours prior to the Joint Prayer Meeting and Worship Rally here, we received several email messages from people letting us know that they would be praying along with us, and many churches shared that Malta would be the special prayer focus during their regular mid-week meeting.  The august8.info website received over 500 hits in the week prior to the event, and Malta was featured on the International Mission Board’s Compassion Net web page.  Others joined in as they prayed through the Operation World entry on August 8th.

We look forward with great anticipation to how God will work in response to these faithful prayers!
